Our Battle Against Weeds

The sun is shining and the weather is a perfect spring.  Our strawberries came on this month for a little stint before being damaged by a hailstorm, which has set them back, but we hope for their regrowth.  Asparagus is still going strong and we have a nice selection of summer vegetable starts available for sale.  Including Zucchini, Summer Squash, Six varieties of tomatoes, Green Beans, Moon and Stars Watermelon, Eggplant, four varieties of Pepper, and Onions.  Our greens are going off! We have been succession planting kale, chard, red and Greenleaf lettuce, arugula, Asian mix and more, and it’s growing so well.  We are weeding a lot in the gardens and trying to keep up with all the planting and transplanting.  May often brings the beginning cycle of insects and pests, and a sensation that summer really is coming, so time to get ready.
